Bacon, Sausage, And Prune Rolls

Since antiquity, dried fruits have been a popular alternative for fresh fruits during the winter. However, you may now treat yourself whenever you want with these natural sweets. Not only are prunes excellent for tea, but they are also a vital component in many other dishes as well. The usefulness of California prunes cannot be disputed (learn more about this dried fruit on our website), and their flavor goes very well with a variety of meat recipes.

Many meat dishes take a lot of time to cook, but if you do not want to spend too much time in the kitchen, give our quick and easy bacon, sausage, and prune roll recipe a shot!

For 12 rolls:

  • 12 cocktail sausages
  • 1 tbsp clear honey
  • 12 average-sized California prunes
  • 24 rashers/slices of streaky bacon

For the sauce:

  • 3 tbsp sour cream
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1 tsp olive oil

Cooking steps

Step 1

Prepare the sheet pan. Cover it with parchment paper (to make the paper hold better, you can spray the pan with a little bit of vegetable oil before putting the parchment on it).

Step 2

The sausages must be peeled. You may cook your sausages in boiling water for one minute if they are uncooked meat sausages. To make rolls that are easy to eat with your hands, you may cut the sausages into two shorter portions if they are too long.

Step 3

Preheat the oven to 200°C. In a dish, combine the honey and sausages and toss until evenly coated. Each sausage and prune should be wrapped in a strip of bacon before being stabbed on a cocktail fork. Cook for 30 minutes after placing them on the sheet pan.

Step 4

This snack is tasty on its own, but you can improve it by serving it with a quick and easy sauce. To do so, combine 3 tbsp sour cream with 1 tsp olive oil, salt, and any additional herbs you choose (if you do not know what to add - try a small amount of dried thyme and rosemary). Once the garlic clove has been crushed and finely chopped, add it to the sauce. Mix thoroughly.

Step 5

Serve the appetizer hot, with or without the sauce! This dish perfectly combines with a pint of American craft beer. You will spend a minimum of time and effort preparing this snack. This recipe is ideal for a lunch with friends or as a fast meal. Prunes will not only enhance the bacon's salty flavor and meaty texture, but they will also give the rolls more succulence. Happy eating!
