Almond Tart With Apples

Today, we offer you an extraordinary dessert recipe. If apple pies sound too boring, and you are looking for something to surprise your loved ones, this almond tart will definitely be a hit.

For the pastry:

  • 175g shortbread cookies
  • 75g butter
  • 200g Bramley apples (or any 2 medium apples)

For the almond filling:

  • 75g ground American almonds
  • 50g flaked American almonds
  • 75g butter, softened
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 75g sugar
  • 1 tsp almond extract

Cooking steps

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 180C. Put the biscuits in a large resealable bag and crush with a rolling pin into fine crumbs. Melt the butter, pour it into the biscuit crumbs and mix them together. Transfer the mixture into the tart tin, pressing it into the base and sides to form an even layer. Chill in the fridge while you prepare the filling.

Step 2

Using a mixer or a food processor, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in the eggs, then add the ground almonds and almond extract and blend until well combined.

Step 3

Peel the apples, then cut thin slices of apple (do this at the last minute to prevent the apple from browning). Distribute the slices over the biscuit base. Spread the almond filling evenly on top. Sprinkle the tart with the flaked almonds.

Step 4

Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden-brown and set. Then remove from the oven and let cool for 15 minutes. Remove the sides of the tin. Transfer the tart, still resting on the tin’s base, to a serving plate. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream. This flavorful tart may serve as the perfect final touch for your festive family dinner. A divine combination of buttery almond taste and fresh apples surely will leave everyone satisfied.
